Defender Services Division Training Branch

The Defender Services Training Branch in Washington, D.C. provides support to panel attorneys in CJA cases. The Training Branch has special expertise in federal criminal law and procedure, including guideline sentencing. The hotline telephone number is 800-788-9908.

Guidelines for the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act

The Guidelines are published in Volume VII of the Guide to Judiciary Policies and Procedures. To view Volume VII of the Guidelines you may go to www.fd.org and click on publications, then click on CJA publications.

Panel Attorneys Get Free Public Access

Attorneys appointed under the Criminal Justice Act and related statutes are now exempt from payment of electronic public access fees for work that is performed pursuant to such appointments in all federal courts. Contact Pacer Service Center at www.pacer.psc.uscourts.gov or telephone them at 800-676-6856. You will need access to Pacer to use electronic case filing.
