Home < Courtroom Technology

Since the Rudman Courthouse opened in 1997, this district has been a leader in the implementation and use of courtroom automation. The practicing bar and the court have been extremely receptive to these new technologies, allowing cases to be tried not only faster, thus saving valuable public monies, but also more effectively.

The complex nature of federal litigation and the ever increasing reliance on electronic communications in our professional and personal lives makes high technology in our courtrooms a perfect fit.

Pursuant to LR 83.14 persons using courtroom audio or visual equipment are required to understand and be prepared to operate courtroom technology they intend to use at a trial or hearing. Listed below are several sources of information that our local rules require you review if you intend to use our courtroom technology. Additionally, individual practice and hands-on experience cannot be overemphasized. Practitioners are strongly encouraged to schedule practice time in a courtroom in advance of the hearing or trial date. By local rule, attorneys desiring to schedule practice time should contact the case manager no later than five (5) days prior to hearing/trial.

Counsel are reminded that pursuant to LR 16.3(c), requests to use a particular courtroom or equipment must be identified at the final pretrial conference.
