Home < Jury Service < Grand Jury - Term of Service
Individuals summoned for grand jury service are subject to jury service for a period generally up to 18 months. Grand jurors serve an average of 2 days per month (one day every other week). A calendar of dates is provided to the grand juror 2 months in advance. Grand jurors may be excused for certain days provided there are specific reasons for such requests. Grand jury service should not interfere with important business meetings, planned vacations, or doctor's appointments, but such requests for these excuses must be made to the court in advance. Absences, however, will only be granted for truly important reasons.
