Central Violations Bureau
ABOUT THE CENTRAL VIOLATIONS BUREAU
The Central Violations Bureau (CVB) is a national center charged with processing U.S. District Court Violation Notices issued (tickets) and payments received for offenses committed on federal property. You can find more information about the CVB on its website.
Federal tickets are issued by law enforcement personnel from agencies such as the U.S. Park Rangers, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, Department of Defense Police, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Postal Police, U.S. Border Patrol, V.A. Police, and Federal Protective Service. If the ticket you received does not say "U.S. District Court Violation Notice" across the top, then you did not receive a federal ticket.
Most tickets issued can be resolved by paying the amount on the front of the ticket.
If Box A on the front of your ticket is checked, you must appear in court. The CVB will mail you a "Notice to Appear" approximately four weeks prior to the scheduled court date.
If Box B on the front of your ticket is checked, you must pay the fine OR appear in court. You may pay the "total collateral due" amount shown on your ticket online or by mail to end your case without appearing in court.
Your payment must be received by the date of your scheduled court appearance, or penalties may be imposed and the court may issue a warrant for your arrest. Please refer to the information on the back of your ticket or the CVB website for additional information concerning your options.
If you have questions or concerns about your appearance in court or the ticket you received, contact the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire at (603) 225-1552.
For information regarding your court date, “Notice to Appear,” contesting a ticket, or to find out when your payment is due or verify that a payment has been made, contact the CVB at (800) 827-2982 or (210) 301-6400.
